The Big Red L Company prides itself on
developing it's management practices, as such we have in place a comprehensive
business plan, a policy of professionalism in all we do and a desire to be the
very best.
To find out how we were performing as a Company, we entered
the Channel Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2004, at first all we hoped for
was to gain a 'bench-mark' and gain some idea feedback from the panel.
We
made careful preparations and made a detailed and thorough application which
resulted in us being chosen as one of the 8 finalists.
A short film was
made of each Company by the Kent Institute of Art & Design. 3 experienced
business leaders were appointed as judges who spent time with each of the
entrants and asking them some very searching questions.
At the gala
awards ceremony held on 23rd April 2004 The Big Red L Company was again selected
as one of the 3 winners and was duly awarded a certificate, a cheque for £1000,
plus £500 in training vouchers.
The Judges gave an over view of their
visits and spoke very highly of each of the contestants, they gave us particular
praise for our marketing abilities, our forward planning and our innovative
thinking about new ways to do business. Judge Rachel Green said: “The business
was set up in 1992 with a realistic vision of the set up process as well as
having a long-term strategy. This business has evolved successfully through
methodical planning and by having a clear vision for the future. “
Our latest
development is our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme, which
helps each of our instructors to improve the quality of their services. We now
operate a matched funding programme of up to £250 per year per instructor.
