On the Monday 1st March, I passed my driving test on my second attempt. This is due to the excellent teaching of my driving instructor - Peter Blight. He is patient,understanding and dedicated; therefore I would recommend that anyone considering learning to drive choose him as their instructor. #3419

Hiya all,

wanted to say a huge thankyou, to Mike Sutton, he is an ace driving instructor and I finally passed on my 7th attempt 26th feb 2010, as I drove with others before but they all tried to re- teach me, Mike managed to take what I already new and mould me into a driver,He has the patience of a saint an how he put up with me, I don't know, even when I thought i'd never pass he gave me hope. he put up with my tempertantrum after sheer frustration at myself and mike still remained calm. Deffinitly the best driving instructor in the world he deserves a medal.

Just had my assesment lesson and then my first 2 hr lesson with Robbie Wilde and to say the least we were both shocked by how much my driving had improved!
I done stuff that I didnt think I ever would! Robbie's humour is so calming and relaxing, Im actually looking forward to my next lesson and seeing whatelse I can do!
Robbie is the biggest and best confidence boost I have or will ever have, he has so much faith in all his pupils!
The lessons are a two way thing, you wont advance till Robbie thinks your ready and vice versa.
Robbie Wilde is well worth the wait peeps!
Robbie Wilde gets thew 2010 award for the best driving instructor. Three cheers for Robbie!

Couldn't have done it without you Hayley!! passed my test after a 5 day intensive, + a few extra lessons, 1 failed test and 2 cancelled because of the snow. Hayley was fantastic fun, and even through her belching she managed to teach me things that I had convinced myself I was never going to be able to learn. Thankyou missus from the bottom of my heart for sticking it out and getting me through it.

Just a quick note to say another thank you to Robbie Wilde for the lessons to date. After years of putting of learning for various reasons, driving is now becoming a reality. My confidence has gone way up and that iS down to Robbie and his constant reassurance and support given in the lessons. If any one has a confidence crisis then Robbie is your man. Woohoo finally passed my test today.. i've had lessons in a manual never got anywhere and began to hate driving
decided to give automatic a go and haven't looked back since love driving now thanks to Robbie Wilde who has been extremely patient and understanding even when i've had emotional outbursts as i became increasingly pregnant..
Never thought id achieve it

Hi everybody. I passed my driving test today and I am very pleased. I should say that having a professional instructor is the most important factor in your learning process. My instructor was Mr. Jason Hall from the Big Red L Company. He took my test very serious and we worked very hard during my course. He does not let you to ignore your mistakes. He make you work very hard and teach you to appreciate what you have achieved.
So, don't waste your time with an instructor who you do not have any idea about him/ her. go with Jason.Good luck

I have only had four lessons so far with ROBBIE and he is a brilliant instructor. He listens, hes patient, hes understanding and he makes sure that you only do something when you are ready! I have had 3 previous instructors (Manuel) and none of them have been as good as Robbie! I would definatly recommend him to anybody that has to drive automatic! #3401

I started learning 9 years ago with a different instructor who I did not get on with and when I started driving again in July Peter was very patient with me and gave me belief and confidence in myself. I just passed my test first time after doing an intensive course (4 weeks) with Peter Brett. I had very little driving experience before hand but progressed quickly despite the shocking winter weather and my confidence grew thanks to Peter's constant reassurance and patience. Peter's sense of humour and relaxed attitude made the lessons fun and exciting and I would recommend him to anyone learning to drive, be it an intensive course or a slightly less stressful one! Thanks a million Peter!

I passed my test first time around with the help of Amon.

He not only provides the skills and knowledge needed to pass your test,
but also gives you a solid base on which to keep on learning for years later.

Amon's teaching goes at a pace suited to you; knowing when you're at your limit,
but also knowing when to push you just that little bit further.

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Amon to anyone else looking to learn to
drive - in fact, I have recommended him to a couple of people already, which tells
you all you need to know.

When I started driving I tried out a couple of instructors before coming accross Martin, and I can happily say he was by far the best. We got on really well and I always knew what stage I was at with my driving. He was very thourough and insistent on teaching me how to be a good driver rather than just how to pass the test. He was very patient, whilst steadily progressing my driving skills. Whatsmore I have him to thank for my success yesterday - passed first time with three minors (or driving faults technically).

after having possibly 40 driving lessons when i was 18 with a completely awful driving instructor it was amazing to find the big red L my instructor is paul tabor and i have to admit hes fab! even though i lack confidence i find im getting better and better... my driving exam is booked for 17th november, im so so nervous but im hoping i pass it first time. #3299

I passed my test today (with 5 minors) for the first time thanks to Jason Hall!! He was an excellent instructor, very patient and diligent. During my 3 months of learning he was very thorough and i really enjoyed my lessons.
Just before the test Jason gave great advice and now I'm glad to be on the roads!!

I would recommend Jason to anyone and can't wait to do the Pass Plus course with him.

My instructor was Jason Hall and I passed my test on the 15/09/2009, first time!
I learnt to drive in a short amount of time (5 weeks) and i am very pleased to of learnt with Jason and that i only got 4 minors in my test!
Looking at all the other testimonials, it seems that Jason only gets positive comments and i wouldn't disagree. He was a fantastic instructor and I am now on the road with confidence!

Well where do I begin..
I passed my driving test first time on wednesday 09/09/09 with only 3 minors thanks to the amazing PETER BLIGHT! I have had so much fun learning to drive and peters beautiful singing voice brightened my day. I cant speak highly enough of this man, if only all driving instructors were as patient, calm and easy going as peter

The day before my test I was close to tears but peter reassured me i could do it and gave me the confidence to believe in myself.
If anyone reading this is looking for the perfect driving instructor then look no further..

Well I passed with 3 minors, which I couldn't believe, but its all down to Keith. I've been a pain in the bum for the last couple of months, but he has given me encouragement, support, and the confidence to pass and to become a good driver. Thanks Keith Sayell you've been absolutely brillant and I recommend him to anyone.
If he can get me through my test then he can teach anyone, because I'm not the easiest person to teach. Thanks again for the support and encouragement Keith.

First of all the biggest "THANKYOU" to Peter Blight!! well lets be honest the best instuctor at the BIG RED L!!
Well i couldnt of asked for much more than Peter, smiling every lesson, being clam, patience, and having a good old laugh, all of these you need to have in an GOOD instructor to have the best time learning to drive, WHICH I DID!!
And from it i passed 1ST TIME !! with 5 faults. the best feeling ever!!

once i had finally completed the test i clicked finished and it came up with the answers that i had got wrong, apparantley i got every answer wrong which was clearly incorrect for example, what should you do when the red light shows at a set of traffic lights?... i answered with stop and wait according to this it was wrong which i find hard to believe. So i found this test a complete waist of time and i would not recommend using this to practice!!

Hi Adam,

We have checked the program and can find nothing wrong with it. We have checked with the software providers who are making an update to the number of questions you need to get correct to get a pass.

Is it possible you submitted twice? this may have cleared the questions you have answered. Anyway good luck with the real test.

Peter is a very patient instructor, and has helped me immensely to get over my fear of driving around at more than 5 miles an hour! Learning to drive was not without its difficulties but from the very first lessons I felt relaxed because we were learning at my pace and I slowly became more confident. I thoroughly recommend Peter to anyone! But especially those who are nervous or lack confidence – thanks for all your help Peter, looking forward to my pass plus!

Hi,

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Jason Hardy.
I hade a couple of previous instructors but driving always made me a nervous wreck until Jason.
He made me realise how simple things really were, and guided me through an intensive course. I had all but given up on driving, I hadent driven for over a year then spent 4days with Jason and passed 1st time with only 4minors.
Not only did he prepare me for my test he taught me things i will remember and practice throughout my driving life.
Jason is a fantastic instuctor and a wicked bloke. I would reccommend him to anyone.

Whoohoo! Just passed my test last week (16th Jan)
Hayley - Thank you so much, you are a great instructor. I always looked forward to my lessons, well..the first few were a bit nervy, but that's to be expected :lmao:

But once I got settled in it was fantastic, I learned so much and not just about driving - but also about myself, my confidence grew with every lesson. Hayley is clear in her instructions but also puts you at ease from the first lesson, fun to be with and humorous, I never failed to finish a lesson with a smile on my face.

Thank you again Hayley, you given me the freedom of the road that I've only dreamed of for so long!

I would like to say thank you to Hayley for being such a patient person!!!!! I don't know how many times she had to repeat herself or explain why there is a clutch in the car!

Having had lessons with other people before I can safely say she was the easiest to be in a car with for hours and her humour (and endless conversation!) helped me get through the (sometime fraught!) lessons!

Thanks Hayley! (Oh and beware - I'm on the road on my own now in a bright blue car.......)

I thought of more things I wanted to say!

I was paranoid of getting that darn bitting point! I never understood before (with previous instructors about the bonnet raising! :mad:

) Peter made it make sense. Also promised me I would never kill a bird in the daylight, which I think will make me alot safer on the roads! So Peter if I ever kill a bird, I will be coming to find you!

Just passed my test with Peter Blight and he was fantastic throughout. He was always a pleasure to be around, and unlike most driving instructors seemed more worried about me passing my test then just after my money. He was always early and never finished early, overall a brilliant instructor. This message may sound cheesy but its the truth and would recommend him to anyone

hi , would just like to say thankyou very much to the big red l company and in particular my instructor Robbie. i have no passed my driving test feeling more confident. my lessons were excellent and i learnt alot during them. also i had trouble with certain manouvres at the beggining but Robbie explained in more detail on how to do each manouvre which made it more clear and understandable to do.thanks again!!

This is a massive thankyou to Robbie Wilde he is my hero,I past my test on monday which i never dreamt I would do as i was so scared of driving, robbie gave me the belief & the confidence to get in & drive & now has made all my dreams come true.
He is so patient & calm all the time even when you have those bad days where your lessons just dont go right.
I will miss my lessons with robbie & the giggles that i had on all my lessons as he was always cheerfull & bright.
If You are scared of driving & you want someone who is patient,calm & fun loving then learn to drive with robbie who makes anything possible if you really want it .

I would like to say a Huge Thank you to Peter Blight the man is a Legend. I was possibly the worst Pupil anyone could have. I was terrified of driving, roundabouts, stray animals crossing the road, reversing around corners ETC. But somehow Peter managed to get me over these fears and pass my test. Hi... passed my test 1st time after about 40 hours of driving and it couldnt of been done without Jason Hall, He is friendly but remains in control, easy to get along with, patience of a saint and gives great advice. Hi, I passed my driving test yesterday after a long and emotional journey and i would just like to say thank you very much to my instructor Jason, who kept me on the straight and narrow and kept confidence in me through everything, I wouldn't have been able to carry on trying without him! I also would like to recommend to everybody, who perhaps is having problems with a lack of confidence on the road like i did, the hypnotherapy provided by the clinic in sandgate..I went about a week before my test and although i only had one session, I think it really made a difference.
So thank you very much to everyone at the big red l, especially Jason who never gave up on me!

hi i'm dan and i'm a lovely forty years of age! i recently passed my driving test (after a 20 year break) i learnt with the fine and ever so handsome martin collins (not of the professionals,alas!) a good instructor,patient,clear in his explanations,punctual!! really put me @ ease and was easy to chat,and have a laugh with.he also got a damn fine taste in music.i tell ya,if i swung the other way;i'd want a man like martin!! hahahahaha!

Anybody who is even the slightest bit scared about learning to drive - Peter Blight is your man!!! I am 28 and it took me a long time to get my head round the idea that I could drive without causing serious harm!!! I lacked confidence totally and am, by nature very self depricating, which can be tough to handle! Peter was brilliant!!! He was always calm, even when I was having a paddy, gave clear instruction and knew when to push me and when not!!! After 11 years of waiting I passed, first time, in 5 months!! I owe it all to peter and honestly don't believe anyone could have got me through so quickly, first time and with enough knowledge not to just get through my test but to feel confident on the road!!! Awesome instructor and would recommend to anyone!

Hey everyone...

I passed my test yesterday, first time with only 4 minors! I wouldn't have been able to do it without the wonder that is Peter Blight!! He truly is the greatest man in the world and I cannot put into words how thankful I am to him. He's patient, professional, and accommodating... and one of the funniest people I've ever met! There is 3 new show me, tell me questions, here they are for ya all
1). Show me how you would clean your windscreen using the windscreen washer & wipers.

2) Show me how you would set the demister controls to clear all the windows effectively, this should include both front & rear.

3)Tell me how you would know if there was a problem with your anti lock brakeing system

Hi Sharon, There are actually 5 new questions for the show me, tell me section, the other 2 being about the use of main beam and use of fog lights. Please see our web pages for more details.

I would like to say a massive thankyou to Jason Hall.

I am in my thirties and have been trying to get over my fear of driving since I was seventeen. I honestly thought I would never do it and only came back to driving because I had to for my job.

Jason has been patient and supportive and never gave up on me even when I gave up on myself. His teaching methods are exellent and he has patience and insight. He is dedicated to seeing his pupils through no matter what.

My nerves and low confidence were a real problem, not only when driving but in all aspects of my life. Jason recommended hypnotherapy which I tried with fantastic results. It didn't just help with my driving, it also gave me the opportunity to tackle deep seated confidence issues that were affecting my whole life. I can honestly say I feel like a different person now and other people have noticed it too.

Passing my driving test has been a huge thing for me and meant so much. I have acheived something I never thought I could and feel life is opening up for me.

I nearly gave up again but Jason kept faith in me and persuaded me to keep going. I would recommend him to anyone who has fears and anxieties about driving.

I'm planning to book up for my pass plus now and have every confidence that it will be a positive experience.

I'd like to say a big thank you to JASON HALL, not only did he get me though my test first time, he taught me how to drive after my test, teaching me about how to read other drivers, different roads and road markings. I found his teaching practices excellent, easy to understand and can be used everyday not just for the 35 mins on your test. He had confidence in my driving ability beyond my own. Thanks to Peter Blight I passed my test first time and successfully completed the pass plus scheme taking £300 off my excess for my insurance. Peter was always patient, never raised his voice or hurt me too much (haha). Well done for passing your test, and good on you for doing the Pass Plus!
