Brakes
should be tested as you set off.
The
brakes should not feel spongy or slack also the car should not pull to
one side. They do not last forever.
Wet
brakes result in reduced braking efficiency. After going through deep
water try your brakes to remove any water.
Any
problems have the system checked.
Modern
cars are fitted with a diagonally split dual circuit braking system. If
one of the brake circuits fails, the other remains operative.
If
a brake circuit fails, you will at first experience a softer feel to the
brake pedal. You will need to exert a greater force on the brake pedal.
Make allowance for increased stopping distances.
Have
the braking system checked by an expert before continuing your journey
(Call the AA).
